Best Mods For Rome Total War

There are a lot of Mods out there for RTW so these are just my favorites that I have actually played. I will post links for these Mods in my post so you may easily find them. The first I would like to mention is Rome Total Realism 6.0 Gold. You can find it here http://www.rometotalrealism.org/index-2.html. The first thing I noticed about this Mod was the huge extended campaign map. Larger than the original but with many more cities added. This allows for many more conquests and who would not like that? The other addition to the Mod I liked was the Area of Recruitment restriction. If you were playing Rome for example you could not recruit Roman legions if you were in North Africa or say Great Britain. You can still recruit but at a much more limited selection of troops. The other improvement I enjoyed was the extended battles. In RTW the battles would end in around 5-10 mins when one side would break and run. In RTR the battles are longer due to increased hit points and larger morale. Last I would like to mention the music pak they also provide in an optional download from the Mod. I would some times play just to hear the music! It was really well put together and made game play really enjoyable.
Now for my second Mod I suggest Europa Barbarorum voted #1 mod by the way. Here is the link to this sitehttp://www.europabarbarorum.com/downloads_mod.html . In this Mod the Barbarian tribes are stronger along with the rebel units as well. The work on the campaign map alone is awesome. Larger and much more detailed than RTW. Like RTR it offers new music to listen to. In EB they break the music down to different factions. For instance Roman,Eastern and Hellene themes. Many new factions are add as are very many new units. Also added are special events depicting historical events. All said and done a very enjoyable Mod

Rome Total War

This is the first game I would like to discuss as far as game play graphics and what I like to call fun factor. RTW was truly the first of it's kind in strategy games. On RTW's release no other strategy game came close to matching the jaw dropping graphics and epic size battles. Rome Total War was a gift from the war Gods above! If you ever wondered what it would be like to actually build the greatest empire in our history RTW was your tool. From the beautiful campaign map to the classical music RTW allows you to immerse yourself in a time long ago but not forgotten. The realistic battles were a joy to command and given the size challenging as well. Thank God for the pause button in battles. You could play as any one of the three roman houses. Taking orders from the senate and working with the other roman houses to conquer the world. Or if you were up for a real challenge you could play as one of Rome's many strong rivals. I personally liked playing the Greeks for they had the awesome SPARTANS! The original game version Spartans were not to my liking but after searching the web I found a mod patch. There are many patches for the game and many mods allowing for endless game play. Trust me you will never get bored of this game and in later post I will discuss the best mods for Rome Total War. If you have what it takes to be Ceaser than buy Rome Total War and let the battles begin!!

How I got hooked on strategy games

The very first strategy game I ever played was Genghis Khan by Koei for the early Nintendo system. I was hooked like an addict on drugs playing 12 hours a day and barely sleeping. I just could not get enough! By today's standards it would be like playing that game where you knock the dot back and forth Atari game I believe. Koei came out with several other titles for Nintendo and I played them all like Bandit Kings and Le Emperor and loved every minute of it! Koei had another title about the conquest of Japan but the title escapes me. Thanks to Koei I was forever hooked on strategy games. I tried them all from Civil War games to Medieval and even some modern and futuristic games. I was never really satisfied until I found Civilization. Wow just like Genghis Khan I could not stop playing putting very long hours at a stretch. And yes in case you are wondering I did not date much.:) I just did not care about anything else than my next conquest or next victory. Sid Meir came out with many newer versions and I played them all believe me. So now you know how I got hooked and in later posts I will discuss my current passions.
